Suburban Engine is run and owned solely by Gary LeBlanc, formerly of Boston Engine where he was an assembler of VW motors for over 15 years. He has been working on cars his entire life, starting working nights at an engine shop in Watertown at the age of 12, moving onto repair and maintenance at several official dealers. He worked under Ken Barry, the same VW engine rebuilder Bob Donalds was trained by.

With over 30 years of automotive experience under his belt, Gary understands what it takes to build a quality motor that will last through years of use and abuse. Volkswagens may be tough, but if you start out with a weak base, things can only go down hill from there. Gary takes pride in the work put out the door here at Suburban Engine Exchange, and nothing leaves his doors that fails to reach the high bar set by himself and the standards he inherited from Boston Engine Exchange, which for years was known as the place for a quality rebuild.

Our website was hacked so please report any odd looking pages or missing information that may have been destroyed. We are now back to building 2.0 bus motors as the equipment is finally all set up and dialed in. New website is finally up, please excuse our appearances during the renovation. Please report any broken links or display issues or any problems at all in an email with the subject line "Website errors".

Currently 2.0 Type 4 style motors are not being offered, due to the tremendous amount of work expense and time involved in their construction. As the new location is still being setup, neither the time nor resources are available to build a product good enough to carry the Suburban Engine name. However once settled in 2.0 motors WILL be available for sale again. Please keep an eye in here for that announcements.
